General description
AV500 is a highly integrated solution for digital still cameras, which contains all functions needed to build a digital still camera. It incorporates a Turbo 8051, video compression and decompression engine, MPEG1 encoder, a ViCE 48 MIPS RISC, and the required periphery modules in a single IC. This architecture allows a very fast click-to-click time and full resolution images without sacrificing quality or cost, because the computation extensive operations are processed by circuitry dedicated to image processing. All these computational-intensive operations are implemented in hardware, which can be programmed according to users' specifications. Furthermore, AV500 is intended to serve as interface for a variety of popular CMOS/CCD sensors, TV encoder, LCD/CSTN panel, audio codec, SDRAM, NAND Flash or Parallel Flash, and USB. The ASIC provides cost effectiveness across entry level to midrange mobile device camera market segments.
